Best Song

I cannot tell you what my favorite anything is. Color? Well, yellow is nice, but then there is blue, green, purple, and sometimes red.

Movie? No way could I pick one, although there is a relatively short list of ones I enjoy quite a bit. Likewise, I don't have a favorite song, but this one ranks very high on my list.

Civilization (Bongo, Bongo, Bongo)

Here's two more from that same era that always cheer me up:

Thanks to Steve (or Steeve or is it Steeeve today?) for reminding me of these great old songs.

The "Greatest Generation" certainly had some great music. I could listen to 40s jazz and swing all day.

This post took me back to my pre-teen years. I have a story or two and will write about them.

Music plays such a part in our memories of younger days, and sometimes a specific song is particularly poignant.

I remembered your Andrews Sisters collection and wondered if you had this one. I've got their version of that song on my Silly Songs CD, I never get tired of listening to it.

Love the Swing Era, especially "Satin Doll" and "String of Pearls." All that music filled my childhood home. My Dad played his way through college in a dance band playing clarinet (Class of 1932), and he and my Mom loved the 40s era music. There is a Swing radio hour every Saturday evening on my public radio station that is just a treat.

You've reminded me, I need to go through my CDs and pull those big bands out, and get my CD player set up once and for all.

My, the Andrews sisters had some towering hair. I am partial to old beer drinking songs such as Jim Reeves singing "Make The World Go Away".

I can smell the beery atmosphere in that dark bar, hear the coins clinking into the juke box.
