What is known as "the lobster" is a snow formation made by the melting of the front ski bowls on Peak 8, part of the Breckenridge, Colorado ski resort. It always forms the same shape, year after year.
When it has formed a perfect "lobster" the runoff has peaked in most areas. Usually the lobster forms around the 15 of June.
The Lobster has appeared on Peak 8 just a couple of days ago, around July 15, because this past winter set records for heavy snowfall in the high mountains.
Here is my river, still in high runoff, but slowly decreasing.
