I was appalled, as I have commented, on the outcome of the Zimmerman trial. I had written, pre-verdict, my thoughts on the trial and sent a letter to the Fort Myers News-Press. They didn’t print it and I forgot about it. Then, in trying to clean out my over-burdened E mail inbox, I saw a letter from an editor at the News-Press marked “urgentâ€. It appears they had wanted to print my letter as an Op-Ed piece along with a photo.
I wrote back that I was sorry I hadn’t seen their E mail sooner. If they wanted an updated piece, I was willing to re-write. And they did, and last night I sent them the rewritten item along with a headshot (a miracle I recreated how to do this). And now am waiting to see my visage in the paper along with my thoughts.
After they print it, I will post the final, because they might cut it to suit.
Probably I’ll get negative feedback. Us forthright defenders of civil liberties for minorities always get dissed.
In any case, the process of Zimmerman's future is still in flux. Eric Holder is preparing to charge him for a hate crime but he has to prove that he was killing him because he was black. I think he killed Martin because, in his racist mind, it was OKAY to kill a black guy. It's a fine line. I hope they prove it. Zimmerman should pay for his rabid behavior.
And Martin's family may sue for wrongful death, as happened in the case of O.J. Simpson. That outcome was successful, but, of course, Simpson had financial resources, and Zimmerman's family does not.

Now I want to find a book on Emma G.
