Water Everywhere, Except in the House

Our water meter was leaking, so Ed called the water company and they are working on it. They started two hours ago, it is late in the afternoon, and the water is off. I guess I can cobble up dinner without water but I can’t clean up. I walked out to check on them and there was a guy in the newly dug ditch filled with water and in it up to his waste. Now we have a torrential rain storm and the TVs are on the blink, so I went out to see if they had left because of the storm. They’re out there working because, he explained, we have to have water. Bless them. Note: This kind of service is unheard of in New York City, much as I love and miss it for a host of other reasons.

xx, Teal

P.S. Sol our nurse friend is giving up on her boyfriend and returning to Florida. She will stay with us till she can find a new apartment. And a job. Also we are adopting an abandoned cat, that makes three, and Sol will stay here with her two, that's five. Help.

I hope the cats get along and do not need martial law enacted. You've reminded me to fill up my big water containers because this is way past time of year that storms start wreaking havoc.

Oy, 5 cats. I holding my nose just in case google invented a way to transmit aroma.

There is no odor. Cleaning the pans often takes care of that.

Sol and the cats will get a warm welcome of that I am sure. It will also be company and a relief from the isolation and more furry company.

We are Sol's U.S. family -- it just worked out that way. Ed fusses because she makes bad decisions and I said, "where is it written that your family and friends owe you perfect mental health?" As for me, I'm Greek. We absorb everything and help when we can.

There's a cute TV ad for Milano cookies. They always remind me of you.

Dear Ms. Tales, I still dream of a time when we can meet and actually sip some great coffee and eat Milano cookies.
