Recipe to Treat Spider Veins and Also Cellulite

Since Jeri was interested in this recipe, I am posting it now. The woman who wrote this posted it on the reviews for the original product on Amazon. I have interjected my comments along the way.

The essential oils in order are:

20 ml – Cypress oil (Cupressus Sempervirens)
10 ml - Palmarosa oil Cymbopogon Martinii)
10 ml - Chamomile oil / specifically the German variety
(Matricaria Chamomilla)
10 ml - Lavender oil (Lavandula Officinalis)

The following two oils were not part of the commercial mix. She added them to her recipe because they are also supposed to be helpful and she knows a lot about oils. I didn’t include them in mine because I didn’t want to spend any more.

5 ml – helichrysum
5 ml - geranium oil

50 percent Jojoba for carrier oil

50-50 ratio of essential oil to carrier oil

Apply it 3 times a day as the manufacturer recommends.

Jeri: When mixing, use gloves as the strength of the undiluted oil can cause problems I am told. I will use a bottle that I had that contained Echinacea. It has a dropper for dispensing.

She buys the essential oils from Amazon or EBay. I bought mine from Amazon. Also I ordered a 10 ml syringe from Amazon – the drugstores I checked with said the largest they carry is 5 ml. I can’t be bothered measuring anything 20 times.

She also said:

That's it. I believe it is the German chamomile that gives it the blueish coloring, and this is the most expensive component.

It does not appear from the color or aroma of the product that the makers were stingy about the essential to carrier oil ratio, so I am not knocking the quality. It is very aromatic, and has a distinctive, though pleasant smell.

I make my own now and use jojoba as the carrier oil and added a little helichrysum and geranium essential oils to the mix since they are also supposed to be good for varicose/spider veins and circulation.

Teal says: The commercial product uses as the carrier oil a blend of Triticum Aestivum and Prunus Amygdalus (sweet almond and wheat germ oil. I chose to use Jojoba as she does because I understand it. I spent more than she did (see below) but prices change. She wrote her review in 2011.

She also said:
Buying all the essential oils separately costs a bit more than $69.95, but I can make a whole lot more than 33ml for the investment. Sorry to the company to let the 'secret' out, but the oils used in this product are already widely known in aromatherapy to be used for this purpose, especially the cypress oil. I thought for the price, there was a more exotic mix than what I received. I think its kinda of a rip-off to pay that much for so little despite that it is well made. Half of that would probably be fair, I would pay $35-$40 for 33ml, but not $70! That’s why I took a star off my review.

*UPDATE* 09/21/2011
I have been using the blend I mix myself and it is working extremely well, most of them have faded to the point of being hard to see. These results are from just using it once a day after showering, and every now and then in the evening. I quit applying it in the evening for the most part because hubby doesn't really like the smell of the cypress oil in it. HOWEVER, my blend is probably stronger than what this product is. I use 50/50 ratio of essential oil blend to the carrier oil, and that is a bit stronger than a QUALIFIED aromatherapist would recommend for topical application (which I am NOT). I've been reusing the bottle the original product came in since it has the reducer and purchased an empty 2oz (60ml) amber glass bottle with a dropper from ebay (the droppers are already calibrated to draw 1ml at a time so measuring is easy). I also buy the essential oils in 1oz (30ml) to 0.5oz (15ml) bottles at a time from either ebay or amazon. I make 2oz of essential oil mixture in the dropper bottle and fill the product bottle to half with it and top it off with the carrier oil.

Teal adds: She makes two ounces – remember she is also using the two extra ingredients.

She adds: I can refill the product bottle up approximately four times this way, or many more times if I reduce the essential oil to carrier oil ratio. I probably will since I have good results now and just need to maintain them. Make your own and $ave money, because it has just gone up in price since I wrote my initial review--and you will need much, much more than 33ml if you have a large area to treat. That said, I feel this product would probably work if you have the disposable income to afford to buy it in sufficient amounts, apply it 3X per day as the manufacturer recommends, and have patience. Essential oils are powerful substances.

Here also is a cellulite recipe:

CELLULITE RECIPE
22 drops lemon
40 grapefruit
22 juniper
22 rosemary
In 4 ounces of carrier oil – for CELLULITE

Let's all have beautiful legs again.

xx, Teal
