i'm a fan of cake and pie and keep all at a distance except for special occasions and only if weight at the time leaves room for a cheat. wiggle room i call it. i liked westerns as a child but left all that behind. sometimes, a really good in-depth western comes along and those i watch. overall, i prefer sophisticated dialogue such as that in All About Eve or Hop Scotch (spy take-off with Walter Matthau).
The restaurant sounds like a keeper. I have a meal like that once a year, though.

That's a lovely story. I wonder if Mrs. Martin realized her role in providing you a safe haven. I loved my mom beyond reason, but had to live on my own and I was getting older and to that point where, if you don't leave, you never will, and will be sitting in the family living room at 40, wondering where you life went. So I got out. Family was very unhappy, but we managed it finally.
P.S. Maybe Jose could go on a diet? I worry about bad effects from overweight.
Sorry you and sis have to be at odds. Went through that, but my sister's views were totally dominated by her husband and she couldn't push back because she couldn't remember why she didn't agree with me. He was ever watchful to be sure I didn't poison her mind. I did, when he was not around, sometimes get through to her.
