Max is shedding his winter fur and one could spend an entire day picking it off the floor. Ziggy not so much. He is a compromised kitty having immune deficiency syndrome. We had a new vet give him an antibiotic two weeks ago and he is doing better, but his fur is not lush. He peppers the carpet with vomit and I clean that up. Spent an entire morning going over one particularly favorite area. It looks decent now. Grateful for pet stain remover products.
It has been a bit over two weeks now since Sol moved into her Naples apartment. She started work on the 11th. She has been assigned to the rehab unit, a bit of a disappointment as she won’t learn as much there. Her dream unit is the ER or Cardiac ICU. She’ll shoot for that when she can. They have all the new recruits in training and she doesn’t mind because they are getting paid to study. She is deliriously happy. She just bought a bed and the mattress was delivered Saturday, so she will sleep on that on the floor until the bed frame comes. I am pigigybacking on her entry into a new life. It’s like it is happening to me too.
Ed’s friend, a Hassidic rabbi, came by this morning and picked his brain with regard to what is and is not possible with people needing help who are ill and being taken advantage of. The Rabbi is a proud father of 12. That is mind blowing. Later, Ed’s cousin Dana came to see us and we had an early dinner at Captain Conn’s in Bokeelia on Pine Island. It’s a beautiful spot – vast Gulf view, charming houses. Dana offered to house sit if we ever need to go anywhere. He is a cat person. We make take him up on that.
Yesterday I spent an entire day going through my closet. I set aside a lot of stuff that will go to a charity re-sale shop called the Beacon of Hope. I love that place because I can find new tops in small sizes for just a couple of dollars.
And last night I listened to an audio tape that Rachel Maddow ran on her show of little children crying for their parents while being warehoused as a result of Trump’s zero tolerance policy. I cried through the whole thing. The monster must go.
