I am having an interesting battle with spam lately. I don’t get huge amounts because I have a spam blocker but there are several that keep turning up again and again although I delete them as spam. I wasn’t even looking at the first line, just deleting. Now I see that the “from” is in English and the text is in German, Spanish, or French. I keep deleting and they keep coming in. Kitchen cabinets, chances for discount airline seats, free meals at a local restaurant. The same ones over and over again.

I went to a seamstress this morning who took over the little shop of the former owner who moved to North Carolina and started a travel business. I dropped off two tops for shortening (they all come down to my knees). As much as I liked the former owner, the new one, Sue, is right up my alley. We hit it off immediately. I hope she sews well. I might ask her over.

My troubled friend, Leeann, says she’ll come by today for lunch. It will be the first time I will see her since her failed attempt at suicide recently. Her loser boyfriend was a heavy drinker and she is a recovering alky, so that was a really bad mix. He kept bringing home bottles of vodka and, Ed says, the alcohol totally cancels out whatever medication she takes for her bipolar condition. So if he left because her “episode” freaked him and “who wants to live with a whack job” he is totally ignoring how he undermined her and backed her into that corner. I am hoping he doesn’t find his way back to this area.

It would appear that we are now the proud humans of a third cat, much as that means I am now a complete slavey to housework because cat #3 is as big a shedder as Chewy. I’ll post photos when I get around to it. I don’t have a digital camera (living in the dark ages still) so I have to get everything developed and then scan it. Can one sell cat poop on E bay? What about if jewelry makers who like to dip things in different metals were to discover cat poop was perfect? Huh?

I was trying to buy “naturally produced” cat food at a new local shop on Pine Island (next island over) and the proprietor mostly stocks food for dogs. She talked about what she might special order for me, scanned a dozen catalogs, remarked on each possibility, first favoring, then not, each product touched on. Her excruciating, self-absorbed stream of consciousness went on for a half hour until my eyes glazed over. I kept saying, what’s the bottom line? Are you or aren’t you going to make a definite recommendation and order a few cans for me to try? Finally all I could do was get out of there and say I would call her to see what she ordered. But instead I might just go to a larger pet store where, I am told, they stock this food (it’s just farther away), get a concise recommendation and buy there. Foo.

Since reading about push-ups I have been doing 10 a day. So far, okay. I am mainly worried that I might strain my elbows and start having arthritic pain as happened a few years ago when I was doing wall push-ups. Of course, I was doing 50 of those.

I saw my internist yesterday because he wanted to follow up on why my platelets were low. New blood was taken and he said I was just over the line for normal levels, so I am not anemic but he is still concerned that I am low and how come since I am of an age where I shouldn’t need an iron supplement. He thought, since I am due, I should go for a colonoscopy. I am sure he is thinking a problem in that area could contribute to loss of iron. I had trouble thinking of the name of the proctologist since I last saw him 5 years ago. Finally, I said, “oh, I’m just going to call him my ass man.” Well Dr. M thought that was very droll and said I had made his day. Meanwhile I have started taking an iron supplement, not wishing to just start licking my iron skillet. I leave you with that image.
