His and Hers Dialogue
There’s a great new Chinese restaurant with pretensions (eat in, take-out if you ask), with nice appointments and great food. We got stuff to take home last night. Many times, there is so much food that we have it again the following night. Today, Ed said about 12:30, “I’m going to eat the rest of the Chinese food, okay?†There was a note of imminent pouting in his request. I said, “Sure, go ahead.†And he said, “In that case, what’s for dinner?†And I said, “How about the memory of lunch?†I tell you I am a laugh riot. And yes, I am making dinner.
I had to clear the table to start dinner. I am in the middle of my art project, my first in this new class. I have to make a manikin that will help illustrate the way the body moves. The teacher gave us the dimensions of the three boxes – head, torso, pelvis – no legs. I have made, already, three boxes, none satisfactory and I have discarded them and started over. I was thinking, when I had done the torso, which looked pretty good, that I would just hand that in and say, well he’s a quadruple amputee and was also beheaded. But I have to do that one over, too, because we have to thread the boxes and, silly me, the threading has to be done before they’re assembled. Zounds.
Another zippy line I have ready and that I WILL use is “That’s hours of my life I will NEVER get back.â€
Color me grumpy.
