It's been a while since I've plugged up Methuselah, the oldest computer in the world, and blogged. I have the Christmas tree plugged into the socket where Methuselah is usually connected. Busy holidays etc. also have kept me dis-connected.
My daughter came from Texas to spend two days with me--we only had one squabble. Maybe it's because we're too much alike that we soon push each other's buttons, and quickly tension arises--and this is the thing--for some reason my daughter perceives me as being a relic too old to make my own decisions. That pushes my major button-- someone trying to interfere with my personal business.
Anyway, had a nice T'giving and Christmas. Cousin Sissy, a fabulous cook, brought me a cardboard box full of containers of food she had cooked yesterday (Christmas.)
Christmas Eve I hired Mr."D" to come run his Husqvarna over the hickory and oak leaves that have finally almost finished falling, to mulch them up. I used to spend days raking and burning leaves when I had a lot more trees in the yard. He mowed over the entire yard and I won't have to worry with the yard again till springtime.
Now I've got the electric blanket on the bed--I had so many quilts on at one time that I could barely turn over--and now I'm toasty warm. When the winter wind moans around the eaves, I like the sound of it, and burrow under the warmth perfectly satisfied.
My granny had feather mattresses you would sink into it, and she'd pile on so many quilts, you'd be cocooned and could barely turn over. If you did manage to hoist yourself out of that cocoon to go pee, you had to walk to the outhouse in the freezing cold and freeze your butt off before sinking back into that bed. So much for the "good" ole days!
Stay warm, and Happy Holidays! susil
