Well friends, I have been unable to hire anyone to recaulk my bathtub, so finally realized if it got done, little ole me was gonna have to do it. I have a chair I sit on in the tub to take a shower. I sat down, took a knife and peeled and pared and scraped till I got all the old curled up peeling caulk off.
I had bought some caulk that's NOT silicone based--that stuff quickly peels and buckles up. The caulk I purchased is more like grout--it dries quickly and lasts--Lasts is the operative word here. Then leaning over, took my index finger and schmeared the sealant everywhere it should be.
Of course it looks like King Kong did it--I tried to wipe off the excess, but the job I did isn't something I'd want to show off to anybody. I had a time cleaning all the scraped mess out of the tub, and got it on the bathroom floor as well, but it's done. Hope it lasts a while! Hint: I got it on my hand and didn't think I'd be able to get if off, but I sprayed my hand with PAM, then scrubbed with soap and water got most of it off. Susil
