Hey, y'all! Yesterday I opened the carport door and found a bag of yellow squash hanging on the knob; a gift from Juan, the head of the water board. The two littlest squashies I washed and ate raw; they make excellent crudite. The rest I will stew down or roast today. I like squash.
It was almost 94 degrees yesterday, hard bright sun, very humid--sauna is the best way to describe it. I did a load of laundry in the machine out in the carport room--every time I went outside IÂ immediately broke into a sauna sweat. By the way, I thought my washing machine was kaput; it would get to the spin cycle and stop.
Well, after much angst finally discovered that there is a little projection on the lid--when you let the lid down, this thing goes into a hole on the rim and that's what makes the d*mn thing work. Imagine, instead of a new machine or repair costs, all it takes is remembering to stick half a clothespin into the hole and everything is okey dokey.
Since it's so hot and by perforce am bound to stay inside, I have been watching the telly and reading--no politics though--those candidates scare me, especially Obama. But the scope of the horrific events from China and Burma, and tornado flattened parts of the U.S. give me chest pain; I can't watch much of it.
Bye from Nowheresville, where there is no news, and I am grateful for that. susil.
