Bad Fashion at the Emmy's

Let me tell y'all a few snippets from the Emmy fashions before I forget.
An after Emmy fashion critique panel from TV Guide Network voted on best and worst dressed. Worst was Mrs. Tom Hanks. Instead of a Hollywood glamour gown, she wore a short dress with a beaded net draped over it, with an uneven hem. One critic said she looked like she had stood under a chandelier and it fell on her. Her shoes were awful too. Wedgie's with dangly things on them that looked like something she had hot glued to a pair of shoes found at a thrift store.

January Jones came in for heat too. She plays Don Draper's wife on "Mad Men" and has that cool blond Grace Kelly look on the show. But in real life she always shows up in fashion disasters. She was wearing a stiff blue dress that stood up like a starched collar over her knees in front, as if the wind had blown her dress up--it had cones over her boobs, and had a long awkward train in back. Puzzling to look at.

Speaking of puzzling, Al Pacino seemed confused--he won an award for playing Jack Kevorkian in a TV movie, and it was surprising to see how tiny he really is and how out of it he seemed.
The fashion trend this year for women was long black gowns, some with ruffles. Hairstyles ranged from long and loose with some curl, to updo's where the hair was simple and pulled back. Also, a trend for long hair parted in the middle. Beautiful pumps on almost everyone.
Heidi Klum showed up wearing a ruched black mini dress (how she sat down without showing her goodies I can't imagine) and nice beaded black heels. She was accompanied by her husband Seal, the black singer with scars on his face, and painted black nails. Every time he started to talk, Heidi cut him off. Guess who wears the pants in that duo.

But most of the women were Hollywood glam, and the men looked great too for the most part, lot of tuxedos and bow ties, which looks better than a tie with a tux. Wednesday night on "E" there will be a post Emmy fashion review if you want to see what I'm talking about.

I should probably leave quietly, but when have I ever done that? This post (and replies) says a lot about why this country (and Canada, Not to leave Marg out) is in the state it's in. And I don't single out Hollywood nonsense; "the world of sports" is just as time wasting and shallow (and unimportant in the scheme of things). I know, people need a mindless break from stress, that's fine when they do something. It's quite a different story when they sit around watching other people do things. Ok... I'm leaving quietly now... forget you saw this..... and as usual, have a nice day!

Oh jj; I spent my life on my feet working, and now enjoy my guilty pleasures. Since I have trouble walking, watching others do things gives me no qualms whatever. You have a nice day too!

I'll watch that Fashion Police show on E! Wednesday night. Thanks for the reminder. I think Al Pacino is probably getting senile.

My machine recorded it, and I can't remember when it was. Very funny show.

Well you know what? I never could find that show on E! on Wednesday night, and I was looking forward to seeing Joan Rivers. So I've had to watch the TV Guide network review a few times.

I think Al Pacino is using and that also could explain why he has been emaciated looking for some years now.

Why do they dress so tacky when they can afford to dress like Princess Diana? If they just knew how ridiculous they looked...

peach, I think teal is right--negative publicity is still publicity!

These fashion disasters have been going on for some time now. I don't understand how they could buy into these designs. Do they just want attention, even bad attention?

saw a few of the outfits on GMA...UGH

I missed the GMA broadcast. Did you see Julia Louis Dreyfuss (Elaine on Seinfeld) she looked so great, she always knows how to glam it up.
And Jon Hamm who plays Don Draper was GQ gorgeous.

I love looking at the stars' fashions.

Hi nittin, me too! I wish there was an after show that showed every one of the red carpet fashions.

I always enjoy the fashions. I am a firm believer in classics that never
go out of fashion. Except those with shoulder pads.
comment by elderjane on Aug 31, 2010 11:53 AM ()
Hi jeri; I love those classic gowns too--and as for shoulder pads, I used to cut them out of any garment I bought. I detested those things (I hear Joan Crawford started that fashion fad.)

For them bad is good.

fredo you're right--the stars who wear the worst looking outfits are the ones who are remembered.
