Pork Chops

In a California zoo, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet cubs. Unfortunately, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger, after recovering from the delivery, started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, she might improve.

After checking many zoos across the country, they found there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried at a zoo before. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only 'orphans' that could be found quickly were a litter of weanling pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger. Would they become cubs or pork chops??

Take a look...

That's incredible! Stuff like that just makes my heart soar. Did you ever see the one about the tortoise who adopted the orphaned baby hippo after that huge tsunami a few years ago? Seems the human race can learn a thing or two from the animal kingdom about unconditional acceptance and love.

Good question, Sunny. These critters sure have a lot to teach us!

That is so adorable. I guess that shows how descrimation can be taught rather than being innate.

Because nobody gave the rest of the world tiger fur coats with cute little red bows? I wonder if baby tigers instinctively arrange themselves on their mother's side like that? Thanks for posting this.
