Eddie advised us (me) not to click on the ads. Well, I've gotten in the habit of looking at them, when before I just ignored them. They're kind of interesting. I recently clicked on an ad on my article that was about a device that detected red light cameras. Did you know about them? I didn't. I didn't even know about red light cameras, let alone a detection device. One more thing to worry about... but better to know about, just in case (you're tempted to try beating that light).
I found out what AdSense is. I even found out I could put it on my mobile device (if I had one, which I seriously doubt I do). Even though AdSense is making no money from me, I am learning a lot! They said to only show appropriate sites on your ad space. I guess they mean be careful of shifty people. I said "shiFTy."
There was one -- Shopzilla -- that took me to a diamond site. Now that was tempting. The prices were half off. There was a pair of black and white diamond earrings that was very pretty. The diamond and sapphire... they get really creative in spreading the diamonds out so that it isn't too expensive... do you realize what one-tenth of a karat is, especially spread out on two earrings? I don't see how you could even see them.
There was another jewelry site that had terrible jewelry. I don't know how they continue to stay open... unless it's just a hobby for them. I could make jewelry that looks better than theirs for four dollars!
Well, I guess Eddie is right. I'm picking up a lot of cookies visiting these sites. I have to keep an IE delete window open to get rid of these cookies... so it doesn't slow down my computer... which is slow enough already. Did I ever mention that I hate waiting? Do you think I could be picking up the cookies from the porn sites? (Just kidding... really! I don't know how to get to a porn site... No, I haven't tried.)
Anyway, stay away from the clicks unless you really are interested in whatever it is. (Sometimes just looking at them makes you curious, though.)
P.S. The business about clicking... That doesn't mean that you shouldn't click because it's bad. Eddie said that it would be unfair to the advertisers to click just to click because the advertisers had to pay for the clicks. So, if you see something interesting, I think you should click on it to find out about it. It does generate some revenue (not a lot, but some) for mybloggers.
Here are some other commercials on YouTube. They're short. The first one is from here (LA County Fair)... unfortunately true. You can click on the YouTubes.
