After I finished my little workout this afternoon, I called Dolly to ask her something. No answer. For seconds later, she called back. She was on the phone with my mother. Dolly had called to ask her more about the thing they talked about the other day, related to her "business". While they were on the phone, my mother mentioned that my letter arrived today, and she wanted to talk with me.
I called and we talked for a while, going over some of the stuff in the letter and elaborating on it. She didn't know about the latest emails I had exchanged with my sister, so I explained all that and the us v. them aspect of it. She said that my father isn't too communicative, but didn't add anything about that. We talked about my work, then I steered it back to health. I asked about her mother and whether she had osteoporosis. She said that she didn't know for sure, which was odd because she fractures and loss of height match exactly. I told her about my osteoporosis, which is, of course, why I asked. She was surprised, as I expected. No one expects that.
Anyway, it went well. I feel better about communicating more with her now.
