Chubbing

A RECENT STUDY at the University of Central Arizona has concluded that chin rubbing during blogging may actually improve the blog itself.

“The tactile stimulus of the fingers against the epidermis of the chin produces pheromones that enliven the underlying dermis which is the center of creativity for most bloggers,” said Professor Sharon Ditz, chair of the Department of Dermatological Science.

Dr. Ditz studied forty bloggers over a two year time period. The subjects were filmed and the films subsequently compared with the blog posts created during the relevant time periods on the tape.

“For most of the subject bloggers,” said Dr. Ditz, “the chin rubbing, what we call chubbing, appeared to be non-purposeful. But a few exhibited definite symptoms of conscious contact of the fingers with the chin, especially the males with chin whiskers. Either way, in a statistically significant percentage of the cases, almost 64%, the chubbers blog postings were judged to be creatively superior to the non-chubbers.”

The study was initiated through a grant from the Dermatological Office of Positive Epidermis (D.O.P.E.) and the judging of the subject blog posts by a special panel of blog experts, including the award winning blogger, Irwin “Seat o’ the Pants” Slatskin.

Follow-up study has been authorized and funded, says Dr. Ditz. “I certainly hope that any bloggers who we contact will cooperate with the second phase of our study. We feel like there are a lot more chubbers out there, as well as potential chubbers, whose blogs might really reap the benefit of an initiation of chubbing as a means of increasing the blog’s substantive interest level.”

Will you be a second phase blogger?

While I'm a natural chubber, I find it difficult to chub and type at the same time. (I was going to use the word simultaneously, but I couldn't spell it.)

You must be a fast typist...

Dr. Ditz, eh.

She probably went into dermatology because she'd had pimples in high school.

I'm really impressed. My cats chub at my chin/face all the time and they are brilliant. However, their paws cannot type.

I heard that the last idea Steve Jobs put forth before he died was a keyboard for smart cats... he was always trying to expand his market.

Well john guess I don't recognize a parody when I see one--with so many stupid 'studies' done this sounded like just another one--maybe warnings should be put up for dummies like me!?!

I hear there's a study in the works where the subjects are people who can't recognize parodies when they see them..

A well known side effect of chubbing is zits. Even if your hands aren't covered in bacteria the extra oil from them can plug your pores and cause eczema, rashes, blackheads, pimples and rosacea.

I guess one has to choose between the benefits of chubbing vs. its unsavory side effects...

(Scratching chin and noticing stubble, subject left computer and went to find his Trac-4 razor.)

That's the idea, girl.

Chin-rubbing on objects or trees is what rabbits do to mark their territory. I didn't realize humans had developed glands there too. I will however call 911 if I see anyone in public rubbing his face on things.

I think elves do it too...

Must have taking a lot of chubbing to come up with this one. I think I detect some of it going on in your avatar. [Aside: is 'avatar photo' redundant? Or is photo a necessary modifier to distinguish a photo from a cartoon avatar? Deep thoughts for a Monday.]

Perhaps I did a little too much chin rubbing on this one. (Your avatar question is too deep for me... )

I wonder how much this really necessary research study cost??!?!?

It is parody, GM.
