A "cold" front swept through yesterday, clearing the air of haze and humidity.
So I stepped outside about 10:30 to look at the stars and Milky Way. I'm lucky I live far away from city lights. The sky was ablaze with twinkling, blinking stars.
And all around me, in the yard and garden, in the corn and beans, fireflies--lightning bugs--winked and blinked like those very stars above.
It was an amazing sight--an explosion of flash bulbs going off in every direction. I don't think I've ever seen such a display of fireworks. Yet it was so quiet and peaceful.
I love summer.
