Keeping it Simple

My daughter is on my case again. "Why don't you get a cell phone?" We go 'round and 'round on this item.
They really annoy me when, for example, they ring just as I'm ready to hit a golf ball.
And all those people talking while driving--who are they talking to and what can they be talking about ALL the time?

I have no intentions of ever owning a cell phone. Having an answering machine (a gift) is bad enough. I'm sorely tempted to unplug it. But there are advantages to it.

Yep, I'm a pretty simple guy--just the basics. No DVD player, no ipod or any other fancy whatchamacallems. I played golf with a guy that had a $400 GPS gizmo. Big whoop.

My truck is 5 years old, plain and simple, but with a CD player and power windows. That's as fancy as I get.
I've used my dishwasher twice in 18 months! (It's in my kitchen, not my truck.)

No HD or plasma TV, whatever they are. A couple of clock radios suit me fine, too. No "manly" power tools--exceptions being a chain and circular saw, and a drill.

And if it weren't for a former wife, I probably wouldn't be able to submit this post--no computer!

I have my reasons for keeping it simple. For one, I'm cheap. But mostly, I just don't need or want them. I'm not too technologically capable and don't want to get aggravated dealing with them. Perhaps I'm a little old fashioned. As the song goes, "just give me the simple life".
