It's been a long time since I read that book (Up the Down Staircase). Remember it? I still became a teacher.
It's been one of those weeks so far. Primary elections were yesterday. That was an exercise in futility. No Democrats were even on the ballot. They know it's a lost cause to run in my county. The main reason I did vote was to cast my yes for the 13 million dollar school referendum. It was soundly defeated by a two to one margin. The party of "no" strikes again. Same old reasons: higher taxes, deeper in debt. Boo hiss.
No golf today--took my eldest daughter to the airport 50 miles away (Indy) for her flight back to Honduras. It was nice seeing her, albeit for a short time. She needed a break from her kids and husband. (She was here for "continuing education" in optometry.)
I almost didn't make it out of the airport parking garage. The "pay machine" ate my ticket because it wouldn't accept my credit card (for only $2). I tried and tried, called for assistance, waited 15 minutes, and finally gave up. Try sweet talking your way out of the toll gate! It was either pay the full day amount ($18), or go through the hassle of tracking someone down to get my ticket back. I just wanted out of there. It's only money. Boo hiss #2.
Oh yes, I got stuck in a traffic jam coming home. Wonderful way to spend a morning. I finally got home, ran 5 miles to release my anger, mowed the lawn, and am now writing this.
I made an asparagus quiche, presently "setting up". I'll stick it in the oven while I shower and have a glass of wine. All that should calm me down. Then it's off to a Lions Club meeting. All in a "day in the life" of yours truly.
