When it Rains, it Pours.

Although it literally is pouring down rain (which we don't need), I'm actually referring to something else (see title).

Again, my poor daughter and her husband (Emily and Nate) have been struck by lightning. Never twice? How 'bout over and over?

Long story short (for those that don't know or remember), they were forced into bankruptcy when Nate's 3 remodeled houses wouldn't sell when the housing market crashed. They even lost their own home. So they're trying to make a rented 1850s home live-able plus raise vegetables for their organic farming business.

A friend from Honduras who has been in the states twice before offered to help the kids this summer basically for room and board. When he landed at Houston, he was refused entry and sent back to Hond.! Evidently, he didn't have "just cause". He was being honest, as were Nate and Emily when customs called them for verification of Juan's explanation. So not only did they lose their "free" help, but it cost them $700 in plane fare (round trip)! How sickening and disheartening is that? Those kids don't deserve all of this, as hard as they work (and Emily is pregnant--Oct 1 due date).

From my patch, I'm picking red raspberries to take to them (30 miles away) tomorrow to sell at the Farmer's Market on Sat. I'll also help them harvest their veggies. They won't take my offer of money--too proud (plus they owe me big time for previous loans). We'll see how this all plays out.
