In this post, I'm tossing in a plethora of "things", the first of which is the weather. Storms passed through last night ushering in a day of cool, windy, cloudy weather. Good for staying indoors. No golf.
Speaking of which, I had my third HOLE-IN-ONE yesterday! 140 yd 7 iron (for Jon), one witness. Shot a 74 total--windy!
Sticking with golf for a minute, the Masters begins today, and all eyes, including mine, will be on Tiger. Yes, I'm tired of the hype, but nonetheless, I'm tuning in. And did anybody see Arnold Palmer's monster putt yesterday? Emotional (I choke up easily).
More sports: Butler, only 45 miles from my house, sure did surprise a lot of people. And for all those analysts that downplay small schools because they don't play bigger competition, I give them the raspberries!
My Cubs are off to an 0-2 start, blowing one last night. Baseball season for me is over for me before it even begins.
Ryan White, the young AIDS victim, died 20 years ago today.
He lived 15 miles from me.
I haven't eaten a doughnut in 6 months! My new addiction is French toast. Some I had in Hawaii with Portuguese sweet bread was to die for!
I see a new species of lizard was discovered ('04) in the Philippines--a giant monitor--but just announced. Wonder what else is out there? Sasquatch/Abominable?
Is it only in the Midwest, my house particularly, that ladybugs are a nuisance? They taste awful if accidently eaten. I try to shoo them out of the house, but it's hopeless.
Whatever happened to the H1N1 flu "epidemic"? Glad I didn't bother to get a shot. They say it was an exercise in futility for seniors, anyway. Another example of the "boy who cried wolf". For me, no colds, let alone flu, all winter. Yeah!
I read this morning where 47% of Americans will not have to pay any Federal income tax for this past year. That's nearly half the population! Their incomes were either too low or they qualified for enough credits, deduction and exemptions to erase their tax liability. There's some fuel for Republicans!
What's with the "Middle East"--Karzai's weird statements in Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan uprising, Baghdad bombings, etc.? Let's just get the hell out of all that insanity.
At least the U.S. and Russia are declaring their part in a nuclear-free world with an arms reduction treaty. Perhaps there's hope. Wishful thinking.
Does anybody pay any attention anymore to the space shuttle missions? Discovery has docked with the ISS. Guess we have bigger things to be concerned with. My newest "discovery" is DISH network's channel 212, "Planet Earth". They simply show the earth from space with classical music being played. Very soothing and no commercials!
Thanks for tuning in.
