I'm frequently asked what I do all day as a retiree. I usually give the standard "house and yard work, computer time, exercise (golf, jog, box, etc.), piano, read....".
But I got to thinking about all the things that take a minute here and a minute there. So, from 1 to 10, here's "insipid by the numbers" on a daily basis.
1) Once a day: take a nap (15')
2) Twice a day: answer the phone (personally or machine)
3) Brush teeth three times (3 meals)
4) Four snack times (explains my recent cavities).
5) Change clothes five times (different clothes for different activities)
6) Sit and read something (newspaper, mail, magazine, book,
plus work on 3 puzzles from newspaper) six times on ave.
7) Climb the stairs to my bedroom or den seven times/day
8) Go pee (sometimes, that's outdoors, but don't tell
anybody)
9) Wash hands nine times (cleanliness is next to......)
10) Open the refrigerator/freezer door (I've never really
counted!)
Now if you add up all the minutes it takes to do these simple things, you've spent a lot of time. But I'm retired-- what else do I have to do? How about you?
