Dilemma Time

Okay dear friends, here are my options that I need expert advice on.

I've been seriously thinking about spending a couple of weeks to a month in Florida sometime this winter, say Jan/Feb.-- rent an inexpensive place to get away from Indiana weather for a respite. The beaches of northern Florida's panhandle looks inviting.

The new list of Wilderness Volunteers service (work) trips just came out, and on it is one for Hawaii's volcanic national park. I've always wanted to see a real live volcano, and I've never been to Hawaii. But it's a backpacking trip (6.5 mi one way), and trail work for 4 days. I'm not exactly seeing much of Hawaii, not that I care. And, at my age, I'm not sure if the trip wouldn't be too strenuous for me (although I am in pretty decent shape). Plus, I get nervous just thinking about the stress of the unknown. However, I'm not getting any younger, and I can do Florida next year (and after).

I could do neither and just stay at home, or, do both! I think the cost would be about equal (which really doesn't factor in).

So what do you think I should or should not do?
