Life Gets in the Way

I have been so horribly busy the past few weeks!! My last post here was several weeks ago..Wow I need to come back here more often.

The woman who has the 3 children, two of which are teenagers and the other one who is the infant, she and I have become really good friends. She has been coming to my house every week to help me clean my house. How cool is this?

She was over here a few weeks ago when her cell phone rang and it was her mother on the phone. I could tell she got some very bad news just by the expression in her eyes. I have never seen her cry, until that day. Her mom called her to tell her that her father had passed away..My heart broke for her.

She then called her husband and told him, I reached out to her and hugged her while she started sobbing. I also offered to watch her children for her if she had to fly out to Florida to help settle her father's estate.

A few days later she asked me if I could watch her two youngest children, because airfare was too expensive to take all three kids and she wanted to take her oldest with her since he has diabetes.

So, I watched a teen boy who helped me out with anything and everything (I adore her kids) and I had her daughter Elisabeth who kept Michelle entertained for the 6 days I had them.

I know how difficult it is to lose a parent, my mom passed away not too long ago.

My friend's father left a sizable estate to all four of his children, I was told the amount but I will not tell the general public what that amount is. It is safe to say that she will not have problems putting her three children through college and still having enough money left over for her to retire on. Because of this I am so happy for her.

Which got me thinking about Michelle's education and my other baby's education. Paul and I have opened two separate high interest savings accounts just for college for both children. As long as the money is used on their education then it will not be taxed.

Paul and I decided that we will take half of my income and place it in these college savings accounts so we will be able to pay for 8 years of college for both of our children..

Oh, I am still very pregnant and I can't see my feet LOL. I miss my feet. The morning sickness has passed FINALLY!! We still do not know if we are having a girl or a boy, we want to be surprised.

You sound like a good friend. College is going to be sooo expensive by the time our kids get there. (Our daughter is 9.) You have a good plan to start saving now.

It's sad that things like this have to occur for us to realize our own mortality and the way we conduct our day to day affairs. Usually we wait too long and by that time it is too late

VERY smart use of your money for the children! So many folks now-a-days don't plan for the future. Good parents do. You should be proud of yourself!
As far as losing a parent is concerned. I was 49 when my dad passed away six years ago, and I miss him every single day.
