Wii Fit

We got a Wii system for our family a couple of months ago. It's in our sunroom so that all of us can play and watch each other, when using it.

I knew I would like this particular video game system when I started to actually "sweat" playing tennis with my son. The bowling is really fun too and the boxing will completely exhaust you if you've been less than active for awhile.

About a month ago, we invested in the Wii Fit system. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about it. It tracks your weight, helps you set weight loss goals, and keeps track of your fitness activities. The more you use it, the more "new" activities become unlocked. One of my favorite aerobic exercises is the "free step". I can watch whatever I want on TV and the Wii board keeps track of my steps and rates the calorie burn when your selected time is up.

I also like the rhythm boxing. This activity really gets my heart pumping as I try to throw the punches in time to the "instructor."

Each activity you complete is given a ranking. My husband and son also use it and of course, we try to out rank each other. So we're all getting faster, more balanced and stronger by trying to improve our scores.

Meanwhile, after each activity is completed, the number of minutes you've spent working out are added up. My goal right now is to get 30 minutes a day for 6 out of 7 days. Some days I feel like doing more for the simple fact that my ranking was less than I'd hoped for. Some days I just get the minimum 30 minutes in because, if I don't... the next time I log in, the Wii instructor will "scold" me for "not" coming back every day, LOL.

There's also yoga, balancing and strength activities. I'm into fat burning right now so I've not really delved into the other categories yet.

I don't really like to exercise. I wish I did, but I don't. And so, for me, this Wii Fit system was the best thing I could have done for my health at the moment. It gets me moving and it makes "moving" fun.

ps, I'm down 6.8 pounds since I started the Wii Fit program. (along with eater healthier too, of course)
