I'm so glad today is Friday.
This is going to be a nice weekend.
My daughter played volleyball in the fall of 2007 for her high school and now she is playing soccer this spring for the high school. She either has a practice or a game every weekday after school, but her usual soccer practice after school today has been canceled, which is nice... so we can get started on the weekend as soon as she gets off the bus and we go to get her brother from the middle school. She only has one more game next Tuesday and then she'd done.
My son was in hockey all winter long. Anyone who has a child in hockey knows that it's a very very long season. He starts at the end of August and skates all the way through the end of April. Then he was in Lacrosse this spring, which overlapped hockey for a couple of weeks... ugghhhh. His last lacrosse game was on Mother's Day
So.... this will be the first weekend since August of 2007 that we do not have a sports commitment for either one of the kids. Hallelujah!
I enjoy and encourage my kids to be involved with the sports that they like, but I can't tell you how much I look forward to the down time when they're done. I know they enjoy it too. We're able to do random things like go to the park, go to a baseball game downtown, hang out with relatives, etc...
So, I don't have any committed plans for this weekend...
That's just the way I like it for a change!
