A Trip to the Vet with Rigby

I finally took Rigby to the Vet after a few weeks of dealing with kitty pee around the apartment. It first took me over a week to figure out which kitty was peeing on my bed and futon couch. Once I caught Rigby in the act, I then thought it was a behavior problem. It seemed to be worse when I got back from being away for a night. And it started after my parents visit.

I read up on it and discussed the problem with the guys at the pet store while buying a stain remover (Eco-88 works well and removes wine and blood stains FYI), and all the signs said: pee in bed = unhappy cat. It definitely caused many tears from a very unhappy girl.

After trying to correct the behavior, tarping my bed during the day, and adding a second litter box, Rigby peed on my couch, the last safe haven in my home. She seemed surprised it happened. So it was officially time to see a vet, and hope that the visit stayed in my $100 budget. Another reason I dragged my feet in taking her a week ago.

I ended up going to Thom's new vet as the exam fee was cheaper and they cater to rescue animals. Plus the vet got a great review for handing this girl's feisty feline so well that her "I'm just not that into you Kitty" developed a vet crush on him. LOL Her review sold me. And true to her word, he was so caring and so gentle that Rigby did well at the vet. Calm yet timid, trying to hide in her carrier the whole time.

They weighed her and my once little Torbie is now 15 pounds! That's one big pussy cat! Sarge is at least 12 himself. I have no idea how I ended up with amazon kitties.

The vet asked me what was going on, checked her over and decided to start with a course of antibiotics. It was the cheaper and more common solution to the problem. If two weeks doesn't seem to help, then we're onto testing for more serious problems.

Here's to hoping this is the answer for both Rigby and I. Although it should be quite the adventure tonight to attempt to squeeze the white liquid into her mouth. She doesn't do treats so putting it onto her food isn't going to work.

Wish me luck!
