Sargent Pepper hangin' in his favorite room

Eleanor Rigby chillin' next to me on the couch
I had always been a dog person growing up. But I could never bring myself to get another dog with the freelance hours that I work and the busy life that I sometimes have. It had been about ten years without a pet when I was guilted into meeting Rigby, a 14 week old long haired torbie because the family who had her was gonna take her to the shelter. Upon meeting me, she crawled into my lap which she had never done with anyone else before. My Rigby is a princess and is extremely shy and doesn't like to be held. It's taken about two years to get her to sit on the couch with me again.
Since Rigby seemed to have separation anxiety, I found her a buddy on petfinder.com. For Sarge and I, it was love at first bite. He's my little lover cat and loves on anyone he's around but his one flaw is that he shows his love with little bites. Luckily for me, no one has walked off with him yet. Good thing I microchiped that little nibbler.
My two year old kittens have grown up into 13 pound cats and they sleep a lot more than when they were kittens. They pout and purr each time I come home but after I settle down they ignore me and do their own kitty things until I move to another room in the apartment. They seem mostly okay with my workout schedule and my occasional sleep overs at TBD's as long as I give them treats.
The guy I'm seeing, nicknamed "TBD", is very allergic to cats and even though we've been seeing each other off and on since November he hasn't once stepped into my apartment to meet my fur balls.
But on the other hand I do get my dog fix each time I hang out at TBD's with his dog, Ben.
But not even TBD will get me to abandon my little kitty cats. I made a commitment to take care of them and in return they show me true love. Something I missed after my childhood dog passed away.
Cats and dogs are not the same but I have learned that each have very endearing qualities.
