Running Down a Dream
I have a long distance training run tomorrow. My running buddy, Jackie - age 47 who kicks my butt!, is talking about running at the beach since the Half Marathon in 22 days is along the ocean too. She's up to a 12 mile run. I think I'm good for maybe 10-11 and walking the rest.
This is one of those moments where I ask myself, "Who am I? Did I really just say that I'm gonna run 10 miles. Me? WTF!" LOL
I've raised over $700 for this marathon's charity of choice, the Free Wheelchair Mission. Which has me even more motivated for my training while still feeling anxious about it, which I'm told is normal.
I surprised myself by saying, out loud, that I'm considering running a marathon in 2010 or 2011. Something I would never have considered before, even a month ago. But there's something so frightening about the challenge of 26.2 miles that it intrigues me. Especially after watching the Nova special about the Boston Marathon and recently viewing the documentary, "Spirit of the Marathon."
I tear up when I see these people cross the finish line. When I posted my blog about my Half on my Spark site, people wrote that they teared up reading about me crossing the finish line.
That moment is powerful. And the intrigue for me, is to find out for myself, just how that feels.
Happy Weekend!
