I'm making great progress in my 10K training. I ran in the park last night with CK and we ran 4 laps = 3.6 miles and walked 1 lap = .9 miles.
I did the math: 7 laps = 6.3 miles = 10K and last night I did 4 laps!
It was fantastic because by talking the whole time with each other we ran further than I have ever run in my life. Seriously, I've never had to run more than a mile for anything and now I've complete 3.6 miles. My right knee aches a little today and I'm gonna stop by the sporting goods store and get a flexible knee brace just in case. But my lungs didn't give out because I followed the advice of an old marathoner at my fav lunch spot to breathe with my belly not with my chest.
Despite my knee, I'm very encouraged by my progress. And I promise to take the entire day off from exercise to recoup (minus walking a few blocks during my lunch break).
A few of us are gonna go on Friday evening for another run in the park. The park is surrounded by trees and you can almost believe that you aren't in the city of angels and the path is all dirt which is better on the joints.
I really cannot express my joy that this 10K really is in my grasp!
