Some days are easier than others. Temptation is all around and I have a love/love/love relationship with food. As a sensualist, food is a guilty pleasure and I can get lost in the flavors, textures and aromas of it.
Over the last two and half years, I have learned to make exercise a part of my daily life and more importantly, learned to love food that is good for my soul and my body. This does not mean that I don't still give in to favorites like pizza and chocolate on occasion. Because what works for me is EVERYTHING in moderation and in smaller portions.

When I stumble, it's good for me to look back on where I have been and really look at how far I've come. My timeline above is a good one for keeping me on track. Sure I gained about 8 pounds when I strained my Achilles tendon in March and have only lost 3 of those extra pounds. But look at where I started. Being 140-141 for the last couple of months is okay because while I was able to maintain 135 for a whole year, doesn't mean that being 140 means I failed. It just gives me a goal to strive for.... to continue to strive for.
Since I have the free time and a mostly healed Achilles, I am trying to gain perspective and trying to get back on track. I've been seeing the chiropractor for the past few weeks, and have two more sessions (bought the 5 pack to save $5 a session). It has helped so much that I've stopped turning out my feet while I run. I went from big thick control running shoes when I first started to neutral running shoes!
I've discovered a few more trails in the mountains over my neighborhood. I've been jogging/hiking them for fun.

I also joined a free running club. They are super fast so I should get faster just by trying to keep up. Luckily I can choose the 3 mile group and only have to struggle for 30 minutes once a week. It's good for me to push myself beyond my comfort zone. Plus they were having a Halloween celebration and giving out prizes, I won a running jersey with the club name on it.
I've got a 5K in 2 weeks, and then a week long vacation with my family for Thanksgiving.
And yes, I'm looking for work. But I have come to love the new term by one of the runners in the group, Funemployment. It doesn't pay well, but the hours are great and the view is phenomenal!
