Funemployment Ramblings

Not much to blog about but it boils down to more funemployment and no job leads. Looks like I won't be working for the rest of 2009. I hope this lack of income will knock me back into the lower tax bracket meaning less taxes for the year... this is the plus side.

The down side is the reduced income by so much that I can no longer go out to eat, out with friends, out to movies, out to coffee, out shopping, etc. I mostly leave my place to workout.

And yes, I have done more working out than anything else during my funemployment... well, couch time runs a close second.

I was going to redo my living room but paint is too expensive and the apartment owners aren't willing to give me any even though I've lived here for 9 years. So I'm trying to decide how to rearrange instead.

The good news is that the scale is finally showing weight loss! This morning I was down 4 pounds since being Funemployed (crossing fingers it's not a water shift). Not just from the working out but from all my home cooked meals. I've been working to eat more fresh foods and less processed types. Cereal/Oatmeal are the most processed foods I've been consuming. I've been walking to the local Farmer's markets to get my fruits and veggies. I've developed a craving for fresh roasted beets that I've been having in omelets, salads and just plain with goat cheese - my favorite way to eat them.

Hoping I can keep up this trend through the holidays. I'll be traveling a lot this holiday season. I'm doing my usual trip to my parents for Thanksgiving week (my dad bought the ticket back in July). Really looking forward to heading there on Saturday.

My sisters wanted to plan a New Years together but the flights to LA were too high so we're heading to Minnesota instead. Brrrrrrrr! Lil Sis' fiance bought my ticket which was half the cost of what Lil Sis' flight would have been to LA.

Luckily she has a treadmill inside! I can continue training for my next Half Marathon in January.

Speaking of, I shed tears of joy watching Biggest Loser last night during the recap of the recent voted off member who was running a half marathon when they had struggled to run one mile the first week of the show.

It's truly amazing what you can do to really change your life. I get all goose-bumpy watching the last few weeks of each Biggest Loser season. Seeing all the amazing things they have done inspires me even more.

Speaking of, almost time for me to go hike up the mountain in my neighborhood and jog down and home. I'm waiting for the sun to warm up the air a little more before heading out.
