Three Half Marathons in Four Months
I'm close to completing my unplanned goal. In 10 days I will run my third Half in Pasadena, the race that was to be my first of that distance. I will also celebrate my one year anniversary with running. They suggest you don't try for a race of that distance until after you've been running a year. On my running anniversary I will have completed 2 5Ks (3.1 miles), 2 10Ks (6.2 miles), and 3 Half Marathons (13.1 miles).
No one said I was normal. Even my mother refers to me as "unique" and a chip off the old block, her. LOL
But running is one of the few things keeping me sane right now. And the fact that I'm still obsessed with it, surprises even me.
I do have to cut back on the races though. The fees are adding up. I've signed up to volunteer at one soon to give back to all the people who have handed me water while I jog by. Maybe that's something I can do here and there to get my "race fix." That's right, I've become a race junkie.
I'm just so happy to finally be able to run the Pasadena Half Marathon after the crushing disappointment of having it canceled in November on race day morning due to the California Wildfires in the area.
I'm hoping this will be my best race yet. I may not get a personal best finishing time as the course is really hilly but I have a feeling that finishing this one will bring tears of joy to my eyes. Plus I have friends that will be waiting for me at the finish line.
