Blue Christmas
Blue Christmas
Rain is predicted for my Christmas Day in LA. This will be the second Christmas Day I will spend alone. The first was 2006 and I was sicker than a dog for three days straight.
I'm hoping it won't rain as my plans for the day are to go for a run and then couch it with a pizza and cheesy holiday movies. I'm debating about trekking across the city to run along the ocean for a change.
I dropped a grumpy Thom off this morning at the airport shuttle. He was anxious about traveling and anxious about spending the holidays with his family without his grandmother who passed away in August. I get the impression that he was really gonna miss her this holiday. They used to stay up late together talking every night as she had insomnia too.
Christmas was never the same in my family after my grandmother passed. And now that lil sis spends Christmas with her BF's family, the day is not the same for me without her too. I really miss spending the holidays with my lil sis.
So I thought I would revisit my first Christmas Day in LA by running the boardwalk between Venice Beach and the Santa Monica Pier. I walked it years ago with a girl named Lorraine whom I haven't seen in many years and I believe now lives in NYC. It was her first Christmas alone in LA too so our friend Aaron re-introduced us. We spent the day together and it was very remember-able. So much so, that for the next five years I made a trip to the beach each Christmas Day to enjoy the view and take advantage of living near the Pacific.
I don't want to be blue for the holidays. So my Christmas Wish is for a rain free Christmas Day so I can run along the beach.
