Back from Being a Bridesmaid

I made it back from the wedding on Wednesday night. I had a wonderful time visiting with my lil sis and the bride.

I'm on the left and lil sis on the right.

The photographer she hired set up a "booth" with a white backdrop for guests to take impromptu photos (and included it in the package). It was a lot of fun. Lil sis and I were waiting in line and the bride joined us for a few quick photos. It was a hit at the wedding and every photo I saw was wonderful. This photographer will be in high demand once he makes his mark on the wedding scene.

The wedding was held in a museum in the downtown area and made for a nice setting. The bride and groom threw a great wedding and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Plus the drama was kept to a minimum that day. Sadly some family caused drama in the days leading up but all in all, nothing too serious.

Mere could not have picked a better man for her. He is her match through and through. He even wrote a song, lyrics and tune himself for his vows. He hired a voice coach in January so he could perform it flawlessly in a Barry White style at the ceremony. She was totally swept off her feet by him once again.

Being a bridesmaid was rather hectic. There was a lot to do before the wedding. I allowed her to talk me into getting a spray tan, full makeup with airbrush foundation, and mani-pedi. I did look damn good, but it takes a lot of work to look that good.

I wanted to make sure Mere had a great time. I answered her calls, held the train of her dress, corralled family for photos, dictated her vows on my iphone and then handed it to her to read off of at the ceremony. I talked to family and friends of hers that I've never had the chance to meet in person. I even helped hold up her chair for the traditional Jewish dance, the Horah. At the end of the night, the bride wanted to dance so I danced the night away with her on the dance floor. Surprisingly her DJ strayed from the playlist and at one point, I heard Mere exclaim, "Footloose?!" She promptly walked up to them and told them to get back to the hip hop that she picked. She cracks me up!

I had a great time at the wedding. And an even better time throughout the week visiting. I know that Mere and lil sis would like me to move there, but I truly love living in the city of angels. If I moved there, they would be my only friends. The city-folk there are friendly enough but they don't like to make friends with outsiders. Case in point, all four groomsmen were polite but not really all that friendly to all the bridesmaids, who were all from out of town. Whereas LA is mostly a city of outsiders, where I fit right in.

I was happy to get home, but now I gotta prep for a visit from the parents in less than 3 days time. I still need to unpack!

Mere's photographer was obsessed with serious face photos. He had the bridal party take a serious, simple smile and big smile photo for each location he had us in outside the museum. I'm interested to see the final photos. Mere and her hubby bought all the rights to the photos so no one had to pay per photo. Even in the digital age, we still have to wait for someone to upload the photos. LOL!

wow you are a busy girl! Good thing you are funemployed! I am soooo glad it was a good time at the wedding, and you are SUCH a good bridesmaid lady. For serious. Awesome. I sent my cousin your blog for the impromptu photo idea - I think it's fabulous! I told my DJ what I wanted, didn't dance and I have no idea if he strayed.
