It's That Time of Year Again

November, my favorite month and time of year. My favorite time of year because the weather is changing, and we can turn the dang air conditioning off. Here in Florida the Air is on from about March till November or December.

My favorite month? Well any of you that know me remember that it was November 11th 1970 when I was released from the service of the United States Army. It was Veterans Day, November 11th 1970 when my plane touched down in Chicago O'Hare, and I caught the shuttle bus to make that long awaited trip home to Northwest Indiana. Yes 38 years ago.

There has been so much change over the last 38 years I won't even go through it all. One thing that unfortunately has not changed, is we still have service men and women who are putting their lives on the line for our freedom.

Whatever your opinion on these new wars, there is one change that was for the better. The support for the troops is now there, maybe not the wars, but the troops fighting in the war are being supported.

During the Vietnam era, the troops were actually blamed by some for what was going on. How dumb was that? Did they think a bunch of 19 year old kids decided to get together and go invade a country? Hardly. It was Our leaders, president Congress and Senate that allowed it to happen.

I won't get into any debate over any military action that is going on now, but one thing I will preach about is the support for our troops. As I have said before, "Been there, done that!"

Bob! Great to see you back at the diner. There were an awfully lot of us who did support you guys back in the Vietnam era. You just didn't hear about us on the news.

Morning Bob... wonderful post. Glad the diner is open. I'd like to start with some french toast and a big cup of java... Where's Grumpy and Scarlett?
