Scientists Close to Isolating God Particle

All of this reminds me of a book I read recently. "Blasphemy". Now I understand why they thought they might find God by smashing particles together.

Without mass, nothing but a vacuum exists, so finding how mass came into existence is the key to unlocking the secrets of the universe.

That's all well & good. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy life . . ., just saying.

Go right ahead. It's going to be a few more months anyway.

What surprised me was the "prediction" was made in 1964! Amazing stuff. This post reminds me of the "stuff" Ana, from Arizona, used to do. Wonder whatever happened to her?

I don't know. People just drop off the radar and many times we have no idea why.

I always enjoyed Ana's postings too

And finding out will help us how??????

Mass is what everything is made of. Without it, we have a vacuum, so it holds the key to everything if scientists can figure out how it is created...or did God create it? Therein lies the mystery.

It'll be exciting when someone finally nails it down, meanwhile, the researchers are having a good time looking for it.
comment by troutbend on Dec 14, 2011 9:27 AM ()
Yes, it will because we will finally have the answer to how mass is created....or maybe not.

Who was it who sang, "I Don't Care, I Don't Care"? Well I don't but trying to figure out why should I?
comment by greatmartin on Dec 14, 2011 8:12 AM ()
This is exciting stuff, Martin. It will provide the answer to how mass came from nothing.

This is so interesting.

I know. I can't wait to see if the scientist at the Hadron Collider Center get the particle isolated in 2012. It is going to provide some significant answers to some age old questions about how mass and matter began.

CERN does great work! I wunder if'n they can find my daDDy's keys?
comment by hobbie on Dec 14, 2011 6:38 AM ()
i wouldn't be surprised, Hobbie, especially if he lost them in Switzerland or France.

Really remarkable science. Fascinating!

Yes, it's the next step in understanding how mass was created from nothing. Scientists believe the boson particle is the trigger; but they have to find it first, so they can begin studying it.
