Who Was Hot; Who Was Not at Royal Wedding

Some looked elegant, some looked wild, and some just looked dowdy!  My personal favorite for the best over-all look was Kate Middleton's mother, Carol Middleton.
I thought she was absolutely stunning from her hat right down to her shoes when she arrived in an elegant, sky blue outfit by Catherine Walker.
According to protocol, the mother of the bride is given the first choice of color, followed by the Queen and  Camilla. Although the Queen was known to favor pale blue at weddings she looked resplendent in primrose yellow.
Imagine being 86 and still being brave enough to wear yellow.  I thought she looked wonderful.  And Camilla was appropriate as well.  All three,  the  bride's mother,  William's grandmother, and stepmother, chose morning coats as well.  Did they collaborate?

On the other hand, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrix, daughters of Prince William and Sarah Ferguson, were fashion disasters.  Facebook and Twitter went crazy with comments about these two. Those hats are just atrocious.

Another personal favorite of mine was Crown Princess Victoria with her husband, Prince Daniel.  She managed to look both stylish, appropriate and sexy all at the same time in a peach dress by Elie Saab, her favorite designer, that highlights her dynamite figure.  And Daniel looked especially nice also.  I love his vest.   Notice his tie that complements her outfit.   Still newlyweds themselves since last June, the couple arrived holding hands.

The crown prince of Spain escorted his mother, Queen Sophie, and his wife, Princess Letizia, both of whom looked swelte and lovely as they arrive at Westminster Abbey.

But WHAT HAPPENED with the British prime minister's wife?  No hat and her dress looks as though it came off the rack at J.C. Penneys, not to mention the fact that her hair and make-up are a disaster.  Her shoes even look too big!

I was taken with Princess Letizia — she was dressed so nicely. I loved the queen's color choice and I even like Camilia's hat! I sometimes dream of getting fit for a formal sun hat. The fitting process is quite involved, lots of measurements. When I was growing up, the ladies all wore hats, and maybe the fashion is making a comeback in the U.S.

Hats are indeed making a comeback after falling out of favor for a while. Yes, Princess Letizia looked lovely. She has great fashion sense and rarely make a fashion faux paus.

Maybe Eugenie and Beatrix did that to protest the fact that their mother was not invited to the wedding, I dont know, but yes they did not look very presentable for a very special wedding. Agree with you on all the other critiques. But the main thing is, wow!!! what a wonderful occasion!!

They could have benefited from a fashion and make-up consultant.

I noticed that the queen mum is starting to stoop some.
Your right on Kate's mother. She stands tall and great posture.
The girls from Fergie are built liked her mum.
But look, this was fun to looked at.Yes,they were some bad ones there but for me it was interesting to see what they wear.
I loved it when they wear hats.Good or Bad something about them brings out the character in them.Look it is a once in lifetime.
Bring on the hats.Loved them all.Just wanted to see what they wear and who designed them.Good post there.

Thanks, Fredo. I thought Carol Middleton and BOTH her daughters were knock-outs. Their dad looked very dignified and handsome as well as he escorted Kate down the aisle. It is always fun to see what people wear, and, as you say, it's once in a lifetime, so why not go for it.

Crown Princess Victoria looks the best and the hat is perfect. None of the other hats should have made it past the gate. The Queen and others also would have looked far better with SMALLER hats or NO hats. These are not crowning glories, these are chimneys. I think the P.M.'s wife has a fab figure. Her hair could have been tamed. Other than that, she offends me not. Her shoes fit -- the style was clunky. The kids were probably not concerned about looking ridiculous -- I think it was their plan, sort of an in-your-face bid for attention.

Crown Princess Victoria got it RIGHT...from the hat right down to the shoes. The woman has great fashion sense and Elle Saab has designed some fantastic dresses for her to wear. She never looks under or over dressed. The girls certainly were "in your face". There is a photo of of Princess Diana's three nieces by her brother. They looked wonderful. I'll post it if I can find it again. I still say the prime minister's wife could have done much better.

Yes, I see a royal baby in the offing! I love all the fashions, even the
horrid ones. Everyone looked like they had thick legs in the pictures,
perhaps the dresses were not a flattering length.

I think it may be because the photographers could be squatting shooting UP that gives that "thick leg" look. I have noticed in my own photos that I have to be careful about that.

Although she looks older, Queen Elizabeth just turned 85. Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrix are the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. OMG! Where did they think they were going? It's way too early for Halloween parties. Crown Princess Victoria would look stunning in a burlap sack. I'm betting Kate will be pregnant by the end of the year. At 29 her eggs are beginning to shrivel.

I agree, Marg. They definitely looked way TOO FAR over the top. Fergie must have helped them select their clothes. She has never had the best fastion sense herself. And you are correct. Crown Princess Victoria has a great figure and rarely looks bad in anything. I thought she was absolutely perfectly groomed from her hat to her shoes. The ones who need to get busy making babies are Victoria and her husband. She is 33; he is 37.

I saw a headline in a supermarket tabloid that said Kate was already pregnant. Oh boy, a fancy shotgun wedding.
