Last Saturday was the first of 6 Saturdays where I am teaching greeting card design.

Inviting friends and neighbors, I was excited to receive such an enthusiastic response!

Initially, I was only going to have one class per Saturday at 11am-1:30pm.

Because so many folks want to come, I've added an afternoon and evening class each Saturday.

Thinking that only women were going to sign up, I selected designs geared toward feminine tastes.

But 3 guys signed up w/their wives, so I chose elements that would be appealing to men as well.

The fun part of this enterprise is meeting new people and watching those who think they are design-challenged learn techniques and then come up with a piece they created.

I teach 4 students at a time at my dining room table, which is an antique oak drafting table. Each placemat has tools and materials to create 4 greeting cards.

Though my students are adults, their faces light up like little children when they see their place setting with watercolors, brushes, colored pencils, scissors, glue stick, papers, and templates. It's very inviting.

I prepare another table with refreshments and my own line of greeting cards in the card carousel.

The classes are 2 hours although some folks stay to meet new friends and snack on refreshments.

It's such a neat thing to see each person's creativity and know that you were able to impart a few cool design tricks.
