Well, I guess it is safe to say that I survived my first week of 11th grade. All my classes are going to be a challenge, but good. One change to my class schedule is that I'm no longer in the stage production class, but instead will be taking a photography class. So my new class schedule looks like this:
1AB: Lit and Rhetoric/
Creative Writing
2B: Geometry
3A: Govt./Econ.
4B: French 1-2
5A: Drawing I
6B: Physics
7AB: Photography
I am probably most scared of French, as I have never had a foreign language class in my life. It is going to be a lot of work.
M first class (Lit and Rhetoric/Creative Writing) went great. I actually really like my teacher; he's really cool and passionate about his subject, which is a crucial thing to me. He's also really cute. I think he recently graduated or something because he doesn't look much older than his students. This class is hard-core though. I already have an essay due next class! Sorry for sounding like a total nerd, but I can’t wait to get started on that (Which I will as soon as I’m done with this blog post)!
I am most excited about Photography. In photography, we were issued our own MAC computers, which is very exciting. I have never used a mac (other than the old school ones in elementary school). The teacher is also going to show us how to do things such as setting up professional studio lighting, how to print your photos, and matte them, etc.. The first couple of classes are going to be demos, and towards the middle of next month is when we really dive into taking photos. We will be expected to turn in a portfolio at the end of the semester. I know it's supposed to include over 50 images (maybe more). I will share all of them with you. I'm very excited about it.
My drawing class should be interesting. I have dabbled in drawing since grade school, but I've never actually taken an art class before -- its a little intimidating, but my teacher seems very fun and quite eccentric. She came to our first class wearing a gypsy-style full length skirt, sandals, and a pirate blouse. I'll share some of my sketches as the class progresses -- so far we will be learning about Figure drawing, still life, landscape, portrait sketches, proportion, Color Theory, aerial perspective, linear perspective, and a little art history.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
