I enrolled in a beginning drawing class at my high school. The goal of the class is to teach how to draw realistically, using pencil (graphite) and charcoal. I've posted some of my drawings from this class below.
This was our first homework; an exercise drawing hands. The main focus is on reproducing what we are seeing as a line drawing (as opposed to a fully shaded drawing).
pencil - this was not a class assignment - I was just doing some sketching at home while watching TV.
pencil - this assignment had us use different shading styles to render a nut. This is where we first learned about the 4 major shading levels in a curved object (highlight, body, shadow, and reflected light).
Those were our assignments so far. I'll be posting more of my class drawings in the future.
In other news...I'll be visiting my brother and his wife (and my one-year-old nephew) this weekend. My parents won't let me drive the nine hours to Nebraska by myself, so I'm not sure how I'll get there. My mom's against me going by bus, so we'll see what happens. It's my nephew's 2nd birthday next month and they're having another baby in two months! I can't wait. It's another boy. I just love being an aunt. Here are two new pictures of my nephew...isn't he just the cutest?!
