Need a Little Dog Help ...

Lucy the chihuahua who thinks she is human is an only dog now. Her buddy, Tinkerbelle, died at the age of 13 on the day before Easter. I think I wrote a post about that.
Lucy and Tink occupied the same house. Tink was too old to play and Lucy is just full of the "sillies" and needs someone to be her pal.  There are a couple of days during the week when our schedules mesh and Hubby and I are both working.  Lucy has the run of the house and ususally behaves herself quite nicely.  But when we get home...it is as if we've been gone a month.
Back to the topic at hand.  Hubby and I have been looking at different dogs to be a companion for Lucy.  We have looked at the shelter, but we really need a puppy that will be compatable size wise, temperment, etc.  Another chihuahua is not out of the question...but we saw a little Brussles Griffon and just fell in love with the breed.  Unfortunately, it was at the pet shop in the Mall and I'm sure it came from a puppy mill. I just cannot see paying mega bucks at the mall for a dog that I've not got good parent information or such.
Do any of you know of a breeder of Brussles Griffon dogs?  In case you don't recognize the breed...think of the movie "As Good As It Gets" with Jack Nickelson and Helen Hunt.  A funny movie!  The little dog in the move is a BG.
We won't want to get another dog until after our vacation at the end of July, so we are not in a hurry.
I have a local chihuahua breeder and may end up with one of her babies.  BUT...I'd like to check out the Brussels first.
I cannot find any breeder in the Georgia/Tennessee/Alabama area.
If you can help, I'd be oh so grateful.  Lucy can give references on what wonderful dog people we are.
Mz Scarlett...just checking on dogs. See picture below:

Don't give up on the idea of getting a dog from a shelter, especially since you won't be ready for a while. They often get puppies so you could find one there.

There are two big organizations for BG; American BG, and National BG. I put their links below. The last link is for BG rescue. Usually they get good dogs out of bad situations. Check the following websites for more info about BG's and links to breeders.

The Griffon Bruxellois is known to have a huge heart, and a strong desire to snuggle and be with his or her master. They display a visible air of self-importance. A Griffon should not be shy or aggressive; however, they are very emotionally sensitive, and because of this, should be socialized carefully at a young age. Griffons should also be alert, inquisitive and interested in their surroundings.

Griffons tend to bond with one human more than others. This, along with their small size, may make them unsuitable as a family pet, especially for a family with very small children. Griffons tend to get along well with other animals in the house, including cats, ferrets, and other dogs. However, they can get into trouble because they have no concept of their own relative size and may attempt to dominate dogs much larger than themselves.

Some say: "Having a Griffon means having a true constant companion. They need their favorite person all the time, and will be very unhappy if left outdoors or alone most of the day. A Griffon Bruxellois will want to follow you about the house, on your errands, and to bed."

Interesting breed, never really knew much about them. Sounds like they could get along with your pup, however, the boding thing could cause some problems. If I were in your situation, I'd tend to get the same breed you have. This pup could have separation anxiety issues and possibly some alpha tendencies.

Best of luck...there's plenty of breeders on the net.
