With flu season upon us and those pesky CDC folk scaring us to death about the viruses, I felt it my medical-trained duty to give you some information regarding the flu.
There are two kinds of flu people are scared silly of catching: Bird flu and Swine flu.
It is important that you know the difference in treatment of each type of flu:
With Bird Flu you get "tweet-ment"
With Swine Flu you get "Oink-ment"
OK, OK...it was funny when my 8 year old grand girl told me.
Jokes aside: washing your hands and avoiding congested (no pun intended) areas are your two best defenses.
We are approaching full-blown flu season and you need to know the symptoms, treatments and how to avoid spreading it to others unless someone really ticks you off and you wish to infect them so they will be as miserable as you are.
Here's hoping you don't get the flu. If you do, remember to keep hydrated (water and juices) and take Tylenol or Motrin for those aches and pains that make you feel that you will either die or be forced to live through the time of illness and wish you could die to avoid the symptoms.
It's been many years since I had the flu (knock wood) and I hope to avoid it this year as well. I just keep thinking that working in the medical field I have been exposed to so much that my immune system could fight Ninja Warriors and make them look like wimps.
Here's to your health!
