I'm supposed to be writing, so I'll make this quick.
First, I'm happy to announce that we've finished rewriting the "new" first draft of our script. YAY! So now comes the fun editing part.
I don't know why, but I get a real kick out of tightening sentences and replacing words with better ones. I love editing.
Of course, you'd probably never suspect that because I don't seem to take the same time to put as much care and craftsmanship into my blog posts... But no one is going to judge my blog... or are you? Oh well, either way, it doesn't matter. My blog is my own personal mindclutter dumping ground. The script is different.
Okay, so yeah, I said I was going to make this short, so I had better get to the point here...
So I'm sitting here on my bed editing away, and I have this online Christmas radio station on, just for a little background ambiance. Anyhow, the music switches, and someone begins to sing, "Let It Snow" and I think to myself, "I recognize this funny voice."
I click away from the screenplay to see who is on the radio, and lo and behold, it's Regis Philbin. Regis has a Christmas album. Seriously?
As a kid I used to watch Regis and Kathy Lee with my mom on PA days or in the summertime. I don't know why, but I always found Regis kinda funny -- even if I didn't fully comprehend the context of his jokes. Kinda like how I used to love Three's Company even though all the sexual innuendo and silly misunderstandings went right over my head. Jack Tripper's physical comedy always made me laugh... Just like Regis' silly antics, and how Kathy Lee would always roll her eyes, "Oh Reege!"
I remember that Regis used to always love to sing along with any of their musical guests... but I guess I always thought that was part of the joke. I didn't think he was a particularly great singer. And yet, here I am, 20 years later, listening to his Christmas album as he jives to "Let it Snow."
I don't know if the album is meant to be a joke, but man, it sure cracks me up.
