Love As Much As You Can

Half Done (Pics)

It's hard to believe that a week has gone by without me doing anything on the house. The family room is essentially done, but I'm storing living room paraphernalia in there until I can get the floor installed. Haven't moved an inch toward that either.

In order to not have to feel like too much of a slacker I decided to do a bit of work on the half of the family room that I don't need for storage. I haven't hung any paintings yet. I'm not sure if it's because I'm afraid of making holes in my newly painted walls, or if I'm happier with them lined up in a jumble. Or maybe I just don't feel confident that I can arrange them just right until everything else is done.

OH well. Thought you might like to see where it's going.

This the only artwork of my own doing. I have more, but they are in other parts of the house. They are portraits I've done of my children.

As you can see, I did keep the paneling the way it was. It was too much work to try to prime and paint. I also felt it went pretty well with some of the other things that were going to be in this room. So I painted the walls an orange color, fading to a light apricot. The color is more intense in person.

The chairs may not stay in there as I might opt for more substantial and comfortable chairs. They work OK for now, though, since it's just me and my daughter.

The paneling only on the bottom isn't as bad as full paneling so who knows, maybe it's just fine! I think it looks fine anyways...

It's good enough for a family room. Doesn't have to be perfect! I rather enjoy it!

It has a charm all its own and I like what you have done. It is cozy and
welcoming. Give us some closeups of y our art work.

Thanks! I'll try to get better pics of my art, perhaps putting the whole collection together. Might take me a while.

The room makes me think of Grandparents. That generation's style furniture and photo frames. Didn't even notice the paneling until you mentioned it.

Funny you should say that... the two chairs in there were from my FIL. The buffet is also something we inherited from another relative. Since I like antiques, it's all fine with me. I used to have a space in an antique shop so many of the frames came from my antiquing days.

Love it! A very welcoming room. The paneling isn't noticeable at all, it fits in. You might do something with it some day, but no hurry.

After polishing it up, I find I rather like it! If anything, I might make the walls even darker, at least the orange part down near the paneling. I love warm colors.

I just hang my pictures any which way--I think that is more interesting than lining them up in any order!

Would that I could be so lackadaisical! I have my OCD issues, and this is one of them.
