Squabling over Fish! Whatever Next Lol

It's been a funny old day, hubby disappeared first thing to go deep sea fishing and brought home some whiting and some cod; I'm so happy, but would have preferred if he filleted it on the boat Ewwwwww! Hubby and I are at wars with what to do with the fish, I want to deep fry it in a new beer batter recipe I found, and he want to oven bake it with garlic and lemon! Both are great recipes and I always wanted to try making a great tasty batter, oh well, he calls the shots. It's better for me anyway. Perhaps next time. Besides, with this 20% VAT increase thingy - we're going to be living off the land and sea a lot more. I can't begin to calculate how much everything is going to cost now! No no no, I'm not going to get into another political debate about this again today! It's just too much head work and un-necessary stress. I just hope the venue's I use for work don't kill us in April when the rents go up again! Mind you I wouldn't mind getting up close and personal with the person who come up with the idea of raising the VAT to 20%!

Anyway, the pain of reality can wait until Wednesday, right now I need Ice. I stumbled twice today and my knee is killing me, I didn't actually land on it, I skidded with it (forgot I washed the shower room floor) Owww! Then I slipped on buddies blanket! To add insult to injury, while waiting for the bath to fill - I went to kneel on my bed and used the bad leg. I think I did a sumersault there and then, jeepers that hurt like a mother betsy! I was lying there on the bed wondering 'Why did you do that'??? I'm seeing the surgeon again on Thursday so he can can check it over. I'm such a div!

Our country is always talking about tax reform, but they haven't gotten to the VAT stage with the flat rate for the whole country. Various levels of govt assess sales taxes on a local basis (city, state, county), and sometimes we can control the amount by where we choose to shop. Take care of that knee.

Nothing wrong with living off the land. My only concern is the depletion of our earth's fish population by the big industries. It's alright for your husband. I love whiting, fixed any which way!

VAT you must be in England here in AUS-we have the GST (goods and service tax) which is 10% on what you buy, the first political party that wants to increase that would be out of a job smart.
Somedays it pays to stay in bed --i never get up till i've read the obits --just in case

What exactly is VAT? Is that like a tax?

Your Tories will always make the common people who work for a living pay for their fancy excesses. It happens here, too.

It also gives you more reason to run for office lol. I will be more cautious on the next election. Or follow Brewster from Brewster's millions and vote for 'none of the Above'.

I can't come more than a cropper than I have now! Kids are back in school on Wednesday this week. Yeah I know, joss is all grown up now. Triplets will be 15 at the end of the month and layla will be 6 in feb. Emily starts comp in september. It's all happening.

From now on, (mark my words), the next few years will disappear like blinking you're eyes. That is how it felt to me, at any rate!

To reach a compromise, why not try doing both?
I know the government don't actually place VAT on 'food' (except 'pet foods'), but when you consider the 'fuel price' increase + the extra VAT on top of that, it is, going to increase the food costs anyway - the shops will rise their prices to cover their extra charges!!! This 'coalition government' stink!
I do, wish you would be a little more vigilant in the 'knee' area - you are sooooo gonna come acropper one of these days!
When do the children go back to school? It can't be that long can it? A week today, and sonny jim is 18 !!!!!!
