What a Pain in the Neck!

15 Jan 2009 Thursday

Ok, that’s just figuratively speaking.

I had my meeting with the neurosurgeon a few weeks ago. Long story made short: I have a herniated disk between C3-4 that may have caused all the pain in my chest back before Thanksgiving. Plus I have a narrowed nerve that is between C5-6 that also could have caused all the pain. But since it doesn’t hurt now, we do nothing.

But the upshot of this is I’m an established patient at the neurosurgeon so now if I have any issues, I can by-pass my primary doctor and go straight to the neurosurgeon.

Just gotta be careful I guess.

Sick Kitties

Tasselhof has been pretty sick this past week or so. Like I had said in a past post, M has been injecting him here at home with stuff the Vet has ordered. Now this is really cool of the Vet, because otherwise Tasselhof would be hospitalized and seriously run up the cost of his care. The Vet said he has feline asthma and that brought on the pneumonia that he has now. Couple that with his chronic sinus infections and it’s a nasty mix to have. So this is something we have to be on the alert for in the future.

Tika is our eldest kitty, and today she went for her updated shots and the Vet found that her heart rate is elevated and she has lost two pounds since her last visit a year ago. Now Tika was a bit overweight to begin with so I didn’t think too much of the weight loss, but the Vet thinks it could be a sign of thyroid disease. But Tika is not fond of traveling or the Vet’s office, so I’m of the mind to write it off as stress (the high heart rate) and a new food here at home (the weight loss). But M brought home her stethoscope so we can check Tika’s heart rate when she isn’t stressed out. We’ll see on this one how it plays out…

So Tired

It’s really hard to describe this feeling I have. It’s not exactly a physical feeling. More like a tiredness of the soul.

I keep being reminded of a comment someone once made of me when I was a child.

“He has an old soul,” they said.

Now, I don’t really know what they meant when they said this. It may be that I was mature for my age, or something like that, but that phrase has been haunting me for the last few days.

I have been feeling like the weight of the world is on my shoulders. But there is nothing I can do about that, now is there?

Physically I’ve been feeling pretty… well, achy, is the only way I can describe it. Now I know that doesn’t really cover all that I feel, but that’s how it comes across to me. I’m constantly cold, and my joints don’t like to move. My fingers fumble all the time when I try to type and I’m always off by one key. It’s like I move, but not enough to accomplish what I’m attempting.

I dunno. But…
