Nice Weather!

08 Feb 2009 Sunday

Ah, yes. Warm weather! ILOVE it!

Today it was about 65° and it’s supposed to be around 65° for the next three days! Oh man am I gonna have some fun!

We got the motorcycles out and put about 50 miles on ‘em today. The only reason we headed home early is because M’s new helmet is a bit too tight right now and it was starting to give her a headache. I will have to take her new windshield back and get a shorter one though. This one is a bit too tall and it cut right across her line of sight. It should be at the same height as her lips or nose so she can see over it easily. But she’s really happy to have a windshield so she doesn’t have to fight the wind in her face. Her neck used to take quite a beating before and she used to be in pain for several days after riding.

I need to do an oil change on my bike and M’s here really soon, so maybe with the good weather I’ll be able to do that in the next few days.

Work news.

I talked to Chris last Friday at the bowling alley about the job interview and he said the company had been busy most of last week working on a new client. Plus he said they’re thinking about hiring me straight on instead of going through a temp agency like they usually do, which would need approval from the higher up people.

I should hear from them on Monday. I hope!

I’m still going to go to the VA tomorrow and talk with their HR people about what kinds of positions may be open. I’ll then go to a DAV representative and talk about whether or not I qualify for a combat medal or not. Supposedly I should have received one during my time in the service but a snafu in the system didn’t award it for some reason.

I don’t really know if I should get one though. I never left the country and I was never in a combat zone, so I think it would be odd if I were to get one. But having a combat medal would qualify me to be a “Status Candidate” and would let me get a job at the VA easier. Otherwise I would have to wait until a “Public” job posting became available, and those are few and far between.

I’m still tempted to go the part-time route and go back to school for welding or something, though. Hell, I’m almost 37 years old and I still don’t know what I want to be when (or if) I grow up!
