Mumbling To Myself

Hey Y’all

14 August 2009

Well, I went all out and now I’m signed up for college classes this Fall. Classes start on the 29th of this month.

I spent a great deal of time working with a councilor yesterday and she gave me some very good advice as to what I need to do in the short term and many options for the longer term.

So. Here is the plan (subject to change without notice!).

I will have completed my Associate degree at the end of this year, meaning at the end of this semester. It won’t actually be worth anything but it will be a degree that I can add to the old resume! Then I will be transferring to a local University to go on and get my Bachelors of Science Nursing degree. Yep, I’m gonna be an RN.

Here’s my reasoning. The original plan was to go straight on to the Masters degree program for my Occupational Therapy once I hit the Bachelors degree level. But that’s just it, I’d have a BS in “General Studies/ Sciences” and that just means nothing in a business setting.

However if I go ahead and get the BSN at least I can get a job that pays pretty good, and still have all the needed classes to continue on to the Occupational Therapy Masters program. Or I can go on and become a Nurse Practioner, or a Physicians Assistant, or a Nurse Anesthetist (they make HUGE $’s) which are all Master’s degree programs which all come from the BSN.

So, it is time to get my head together and get into study mode. This semester I’m taking 13 credit hours and that’s just enough to get the Associates. Next semester I’ll be working on the “core” classes to get the transfer to the University and into their Nursing program, so wish me luck!

I still have to work out some of the details but I think I’ve covered all my bases, and just need to follow through!

I’m Alive… So Far…
